Where car manufacturers are concerned, the United States has a “Big Three”. One of those, Chrysler, is headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Walter Chrysler founded the Chrysler Corporation originally back in 1925 from what remained of the Maxwell Motor Company. Daimler-Benz acquired it in 1998, thereby renaming it DaimlerChrysler. Divested by Daimler in 2007, the company has gone by Chrysler
Group LLC and Chrysler LLC.
Similar to others in the “Big Three”, the 2008-2010 automotive industry crisis impacted Chrysler greatly. Thanks to creditors, negotiations, a bankruptcy filing, and government bailout, however, they remained in business. The Chrysler Group became a subsidiary of Fiat S.p.A. in January of 2014 and, reflecting a Fiat-Chrysler merger, was renamed FCA US LLC in December of that year.

THE UGLY SIDE:COMMON CHRYSLER CAR PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED
With all of the vehicles manufactured by Chrysler and Chrysler Fiat, there is bound to be a problem here and there. Possibly contributed to by the law of averages, some of the problems with Chrysler cars are as follows:
One of Fiat Chrysler’s biggest recalls occurred in May 2018 and involved 4.8 million vehicles. There was every possibility that, in cars involved in the recall, cruise control could not be canceled by the driver. Included in the recall, among others, are the 2017 to 2018 Pacifica minivans, 2014 to 2018 Chrysler 300
sedans, and 2015 to 2017 Chrysler 200s.
Faulty engine control software triggered a recall in the early 2018 involving 3.6 L engine Pacifica minivans. Over 150,000 vehicles were subject to recall due to the risk of an accident resulting from this defect. As of April 2018, approximately 70% of the vehicles with this problem had been repaired.
Including 2012 to 2014 8-speed automatic transmission Chrysler 300 sedans, over 811,000 vehicles were recalled by Fiat Chrysler in 2018. The reason? Approximately 41 injuries had occurred as a result of a confusing electronic gear selector! Drivers were having a hard time telling whether or not their SUV or car was in park. Some of these drivers were hurt by the moving vehicle.
