The Lemon Law helps to protect consumers who buy or lease their cars from either licensed dealers or private sellers within the confines of Florida. In the case that they purchase a “lemon”, they can go about seeking compensation. A “lemon” is essentially a motor vehicle that has defects which significantly impair the normal function of the car and compromises safety and performance.
The consumer can seek remedy through this law after the car has been sent back to the manufacturer or dealership after several failed attempts at fixing the defects. At this point, the consumer can ask for a refund by selling the car back to the dealer, a replacement of the entire car, or a replacement of certain car parts that are defective.
