Mazda, back in January 20, 1920, was founded as the Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd. It was established in Hiroshima, Japan, and is now based in in Fuchū, Aki District, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. In the past, it used to manufacture machine tools. It was in 1931 when a shift was made to vehicle manufacture, thus introducing the Mazda-Go auto rickshaw.
It continued producing Japanese military weapons throughout World War II. In 1984, it formally adopted the name Mazda. In 2015, the company recorded over 1.5 million vehicles globally, majority of which were manufactured in its Japanese plants.
